About this camp

This hands-on workshop, led by Chapman University faculty specializing in Human-Computer Interaction, introduces high school students to the foundations of mobile usability, interface patterns, and user-centered engineering. Participants will explore how engineers design interactions for mobile apps, analyze design choices such as button placement and navigation, and build a simple interactive prototype using Figma. The program emphasizes the engineering principles behind intuitive, accessible, and human-centered technology, providing students with practical skills in app design and prototyping.

What a typical day looks like

Students check in at 8:30 a.m., with workshops running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each workshop includes lunch and a project to take home.
